Comcast, which operates phone, cable TV, and internet services under its Xfinity brand, has unveiled two new phone plans as demand for its wireless services rises.
The company has recently seen an influx of new mobile customers as more Americans explore nontraditional wireless providers.
In the first quarter of 2026, Comcast added 435,000 new wireless customers in the U.S. Its domestic wireless service revenue also spiked by 15% year over year, according to the company’s latest earnings report.
As carriers such as Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile face elevated phone churn after implementing pricing and discount changes over the past year, consumers are turning to bundled wireless, internet and cable TV offers to save money.
A survey from Optimum last year found that nearly half of Americans find it appealing to bundle mobile, internet, and/or TV services from a single provider if offered at a great price. Also, about 70% of Americans are open to bundling their mobile services, and roughly one in four are likely to sign up for a bundled plan in 2026.
During an earnings call on April 23, Comcast Co-CEO Michael Cavanagh said the company’s converged offers are successfully attracting new wireless customers.
“Wireless is a central lever in our convergence strategy,” said Cavanagh. “It increases engagement, reduces churn and strengthens customer lifetime value. Wireless accelerated meaningfully this quarter, even as the competitive environment remains intense.”
Comcast revamps phone plans as competition for customers intensifies
Comcast’s competitors, AT&T, Verizon, and Spectrum, have recently been ramping up their bundled wireless and internet offers to hone in on this trend.
To keep customers from looking elsewhere for wireless service, Comcast’s Xfinity Mobile has launched two new mobile plans that the company claims in a press release offer “premium features without the premium price, hidden fees or trade-offs.”
The cheapest of the two plans, Mobile Select, starts at $30 per month, per line. It offers unlimited talk and text, plus 50 GB of premium data.

The plan also includes a Global Travel Pass, allowing customers to have wireless connection in over 215 international destinations. Customers also have access to high-definition streaming and speeds up to 1 Gig on Xfinity WiFi with WiFi PowerBoost.
The second plan, Mobile Plus, starts at $45 per month, per line. Like Mobile Select, it contains unlimited talk and text, a Global Travel Pass, and WiFi PowerBoost. However, what makes this plan different is that it contains unlimited premium data, 4K streaming, and the ability to upgrade devices anytime, along with lifetime device protection.
Comcast claims that with these two plans, customers can save up to 50% on their monthly bill compared to “major wireless carriers.”
“We created these plans to give customers greater simplicity and flexibility,” said Kohposh Kuda, senior vice president of consumer product marketing at Comcast’s Xfinity, in the press release.

Comcast’s new phone plans come with a twist
While both new plans appear generous, there is a catch. They both replace Comcast’s previous two mobile plans, which included multi-line discounts in which the price per line decreases as more lines are added to an account, according to a report from Fierce Network. These new plans now charge the same amount per line.
RTMNexus CEO Dominick Miserandino said in a statement to TheStreet that Comcast’s removal of the multi-line discount for its mobile plans signals a major shift in its strategy.
“Comcast is done ‘buying’ customers; now they’re squeezing them for every cent,” said Miserandino. “Killing the multi-line discount is a cold pivot from a customer land grab to pure revenue extraction.”
He said that Comcast is likely betting that its “Xfinity ecosystem is sticky enough” that families will only grumble about the change but stay for the convenience.

“It’s a bold move that assumes their brand is a fortress, but in 2026, loyalty evaporates the second a cheaper ‘plug-and-play’ option shows up,” he added.
To lessen the blow of this change, Comcast is offering customers a free line for a year if they sign up for Mobile Select. Also, if customers want to upgrade to Mobile Plus, it’s only $15 per month for a year. Only new customers and existing Xfinity customers who don’t have a wireless line are eligible for this discount.
The move from Comcast comes as its Xfinity Mobile service falls behind competitors in consumer satisfaction ratings, according to a recent J.D. Power survey.
How Comcast compares to rivals in consumer satisfaction:
- Consumer satisfaction with postpaid plans from mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) averagesat a score of 641 (on a 1,000-point scale).
- Consumer Cellular takes the top spot with a score of 726, followed by Google Fi Wireless at 671.
- Spectrum Mobile places third with a 623 score.
- Boost Mobile takes fourth place with a score of 612, and Xfinity Mobile trails behind at 582.

In a press release, Carl Lepper, senior director of technology, media and telecom at J.D. Power, said that “value is the most important driver” of the overall customer experience, “followed closely by service quality.”
“True loyalty comes from how easy it is for customers to work with a carrier once they’re in the system, especially when it comes to resolving issues, managing bills and getting answers quickly,” said Lepper.
He said that when wireless companies make these experiences seamless for customers, it results “in low churn and high satisfaction.”
