Wall Street\u2019s major market averages pushed higher on Friday as investors digested the latest nonfarm payrolls print and sidestepped the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. From a geopolitical stance, the U.S. military attacked military sites in Iran in retaliation for the Middle East nation launching projectiles at Navy warships that were transiting the Strait of Hormuz to the Strait of Oman. On the economic front, nonfarm payroll growth exceeded consensus figures in the month of April while the unemployment rate held steady at 4.3%.<\/p>\n
The coming week will kick off with inflation data releasing on Tuesday and PPI data due on Wednesday. Retail sales and initial jobless claims data will be out on Thursday. Friday is expected to be slightly lighter with FOMC Member John Williams and Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michael Barr scheduled to speak.
